SPACE SHUTTLE LANDS IN KAZAKHSTAN
The Soyuz TMA-02M capsule carrying three International Space Station crew members landed safely in Arkalyk, northern Kazakhstan. The astronauts stayed for over five months on board the ISS.

Never run out of drinking water
Coat Captures Rain, Turns It Into Drinking Water
The Raincatch coat is pretty much perfect for the thirsty Briton. The jacket, from the Copenhagen Institute if Interaction Design, catches falling rain and then purifies it, ready for the wearer to drink.
Rain is collected in the collar, from where it runs through a network of tubes to be filtered by charcoal and chemically purified. The resulting clean drinking water is stored on the hips and can be sucked out through another tube.
The project is more symbolic than practical, I guess. There are certainly easier-to-carry ways to purify water, and it seems unlikely that you’d be getting dangerously dehydrated in a country wet enough to need a raincoat. For cyclists, though, it could be near ideal, combining a rain cape with a water filter.

On March 14th this year Twitter celebrated it’s 5th birthday. The first tweet was sent on March 21st in 2006 by Jack Dorsey (Twitter’s creator).

According to Twitter, the record for the number of tweets per second (TPS) is 6,939, set at 4 seconds after midnight in Japan on New Year’s Day. This dwarfs the previous record of 456 TPS (on the day Michael Jackson died).
Tweets / Day
- In 2007 the average was 5,000 tweets per day.
- In 2008 that had grown to 300,000.
- In 2009 tweets per day averaged 2.5 million.
- In 2010 that number was 35 million tweets per day.
In the month of March 2011 alone, 140 million tweets are being sent on average per day.
