Respondents in the Philippines were given up to five slots to name a national hero. A sample size of 1,200 provided data for the statistics organization, with the following percentages of responses belonging in the top five:
- 75% - Jose Rizal (official national hero of the Philippines)
- 34% - Andres Bonifacio (leading revolutionary member)
- 20% - Ninoy Aquino (assassinated former senator)
- 14% - Cory Aquino (former president)
- 14% - Apolinario Mabini (leading member of Philippine Revolution)
- 11% - Emilio Aguinaldo (first president of the Philippines)
- 5.1% - Ferdinand Marcos (former dictator)
- 4.3% - Ramon Magsaysay (former president)
- 3.8% - Manuel Quezon (former president)
- 3.7% - Lapu-Lapu (lead forces against Ferdinand Magellan)
Others mentioned included Melchora Aquino (3.2 percent), Marcelo del Pilar (3.0 percent), current President Noynoy Aquino (2.9 percent), Emilio Jacinto (2.8 percent), Rep. Manny Pacquiao (2.6 percent) and Joseph "Erap" Estrada (1.8 percent).
